Safety Concerns At Local Allotments
The Government is being urged to intervene after visitors to a coronavirus testing site were spotted coughing over neighbouring allotments.
Horrified gardeners were left fearing for their safety when they heard spluttering on the other side of their allotment plots boundary.
It came after a mobile testing unit was set up on the Co-operative Bank’s car park at Newton House in Cheadle Road, Leek.
Now Staffordshire County Council has raised safety concerns with the Department of Health and Social Care. It has emerged the local authority has no control over where these facilities are located.
The allotment site is run by Leek Town Council.
One allotment holder, who did not want to be named, said she got a fright while tending her vegetables the other day.
