Severn Trent Water Apology To Cheddleton Residents

Severn Trent has apologised to residents after raw sewage was seen flowing down a road and pavement.

Major health concerns were raised by Cheddleton Parish Council after the problem on the A520 Cheadle Road, near to Grange Road, in the village continued for seven weeks.

Councillor Mike Bowen, chairman of the parish council, believes the sewage leak is a result of a collapsed pipe.

He said: “For the past seven weeks raw sewage has been running down the pavement on the main A520 road just below Grange Road.

“It looks like a pipe has collapsed. People are having to walk through it. There are young mothers with prams going through it.

A Severn Trent spokesman said: “We’re aware of the issue and have been out to visit to assess what work needs to be carried out.
