Police Issue Warning After Mass Gathering Planned At North Staffordshire Supermarket
Police officers have issued a warning after a mass gathering was planned at a North Staffordshire supermarket.
Social media posts suggested a group of shoppers were planning to meet at Morrisons in Leek to hold an anti-mask protest.
But Staffordshire Police has now stepped in and said officers will be on hand to patrol the Newcastle Road supermarket ahead of the event.
Face coverings are mandatory in shops across England as part of the measures aimed at tackling the spread of coronavirus.
Anyone not wearing a mask and who isn’t exempt from doing so can be fined up to £200 with the fine doubling for repeat offenders.
