Leek Rotary Club Launch Christmas Activities

Leek Rotary have launched their Christmas activities with the erection of a Tree of Light in Getliffe’s Yard located off Derby Street.

This marks the third consecutive year when the club has given everyone a chance to remember those whom they cannot share the festive season with, by sponsoring a heart on the tree for all to read.

A spokesman said: “This year there will be family members, and friends, who cannot spend time together due to current health regulations and this is an excellent way to wish them all the best and help local charities.”

Hearts, which carry your own message, cost £5 and can be bought from Newbold’s Opticians, Daniel & Hulme and the Rotary pop-up shop on the Smithfield Centre.

All proceeds go to local Rotary charitable causes which, so far this year, have benefited to the tune of £20,042.

A pop-up shop and Santa’s Workshop will open in 5 Smithfield Centre, Leek, Staffordshire on Friday, December 4 with visits from Santa on the evenings of Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays up until Christmas. The shop has toys, games and stocking fillers.

The Santa Sleigh will visit West End, Haregate and Cheddleton as well as attending three supermarkets during the month.
